Understanding the Bible
Course Description: An introductory prerequisite retreat/seminar which will focus on the basics of critical thinking, the development of the biblical canon and a brief survey of the history of biblical criticism. This seminar will be the entry point for new students to join a warm and caring “grassroots” scholarly community and is open, as well, to current and former students and other interested laity.
Instructor: Rev. Fran Schnarre is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and is the Director of Educational Ministries at MSR Center for Rural Ministry. She is also part-time pastor of Granville Christian Church near Paris, MO. Fran lives with her husband, Brian, on a farm near Centralia, MO. They are the parents of four grown children and have two grandchildren.
Dates: February 1-26 or October 4-29, 2010 (one course in Feb and one in Oct)
